3D Modeling
Based on photogrammetric, but also other data sources, such as Structure-from Motion (SFM) imagery and design drawings, our 3D Modeling section creates and edits realistic 3D building models for navigation applications, which are also ready to be used by architects, city planners and by civil engineers for as-built documentation.
Existing 2D source data, such as orthophotos and 2D building footprints are generally checked for the following issues:
- Topology errors, such as missing geometry snaps, line and area gaps or overlaps are highlighted by specific tools and remedied;
- The positional accuracy of all vector elements against imagery sources is checked, i.e. the consistency and symmetry of buildings, especially rooflines;
- Available attribute information for each building is closely inspected and cross-checked;
- Analysis and editing of the urban road and sidewalk network, connecting it to the building footprints.
After the completion of the 2D quality control processes, the data is assembled into 3D elements, using the available DSM height information and specific software routines. The following 3D data quality checks include the correct, offset-free placement of rooftops.
Elevated structures, such as pedestrian bridges and underground tunnel features are integrated into the urban 3D models, using accurate measurements from CAD drawings and oblique imagery.
Our 3D modeling services include:
- Orthorectified image QC;
- Capturing new, significant buildings;
- Quality Control and editing to meet precise 3D modeling standards;
- Landmarks integration into 3D model data;
- Implementation of tunnels and pedestrian bridges into 3D data;
- Texturing of photogrammetrically captured 3D building models;
